Day Trip for the Chinese Students
(28/11/2025 – for Haifa students – Technion & University)
Our Mission:
The Israel-China Friendship Society (ICFS) with the support of the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and the Former Residence of China Association (FRCA), is organizing a day trip for the Chinese students who study in Israel. This year (2025) it is dedicated to the Chinese Students of Haifa University and the Technion University.
The trip shall include around 40 Chinese students and around 10 members of ICFS and FRCA. The trip is free of charge.
The trip will show some stages of the history of Israel from 1,000 BC the contemporary period.
Date and Time of Trip:
Friday, November 28, 2025, from 7.30 morning till around 17.00 in the afternoon
Tentative Itinerary
7.30 – Departure from Technion
7.45 – Pickup students as Haifa University
8.15-10.30 Short hike in “Little Switzerland” (including breakfast during the hike)
10.30 – Drive to the Muhraka Monestry (Horn of the Carmel)
11.00-12.00 Tour of Muhraka site and the viewing terrace.
12.00 Drive to Beit She’arim National Park (Second Temple and Mishna / Talmud period).
12.30-14.15 Tour of the site and caves
14.15-15.15 Buffet Lunch at Beit She’arim
15.15-16.30 Visit of Alexander Zied monument and return to Haifa
Tour Description:
We will start our day with a short and lovely hike, situated only a few Kilometers from Haifa University. We will enter the beautiful nature resort of Mount Carmel, nicknamed “Little Switzerland” because of the dense forest and the gorgeous scenery.
Also in Mount Carmel, on one of the highest peak (@475 meter), is the famous Muhraka Monastery – the place where according to tradition’ Prophet Elaija fought the false Prophets of Baal and defeated them with God’s fire. From the roof of the monastery there is a stunning 360 degrees panorama of northern Israel.
A short drive further north in one of Israel’s most fascinating Archaeological sites – Beit Shearim. After the devastating Jewish revolts against the Roman Empire in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the remaining Jewish religious leadership moved to this region, and the most important leader of all – Rabbi Juda, chose to be buried here. From this moment on, Beit Shearim became the most important Necropolis in the Jewish world! Gigantic burial caves were cut into the mountains and thousands of people were buried in impressive stone Sarcophagi with unique artistic designs. Some of the caves were opened to the public and the visit is unforgettable.
